Hello People!  We had the honor and privilege this last summer to take an amazing idea; to share ourselves and our expression, wrap it up in our passion for community and sharing, pack it up in a veggie oil bus and take it on the road! In our travels we hit up the west coast and were able to be a part of a beautiful and uniquely creative manifestation of ourselves and our community.  In taking to the road and sharing with you all, we came to learn so much about the world around us.  In discovering new places, meeting new people, and communing with old friends in new ways, we were able to redefine for ourselves what it means to “heart”, and what it means to”Heart” people.

These are questions we are faced with at almost every turn we encounter.  And as we set out on this journey to share and to give to others, perhaps we might have underestimated the things we were going to learn for ourselves along the way. Like how difficult it is to find the truest expression of who we are in ourselves and to  trust each other enough to work together in empowering each and every person to chase that down in whatever way that looks. From our own vantage point the discovery of  our unique and personal art, music, poetry, film, screen printing, cooking, dancing and so much more  has become the rallying point by which we can find a starting point or a common ground to making our individual songs join together in a beauty filled collective chorus. In working together and opening our hearts to those who strive to find their expression, we aid each other along the path. The Iheartpeople tour proved to be a truly remarkable testament to our ability as individuals to seek to fly as high in our own selves while in the process discover how to encourage each other along the road as we reach for our destinations.  Inevitably, as the road stretches, the hours pass, together the question is posed to each and every one of us in every encounter we experience, “what does it mean to love people?”  and what are we really saying when we take a bus across the coast, blast “I heart People” across the side and spread our message from city to city? We all have our own reasons for being here and doing what we do, but in the end, it’s about what we can learn from each other and ourselves in each individual encounter that will teach us what it means to “heart” people.

One thing is for certain, we recognize that we could not have done this without the remarkable support from all of the people around us in our community. From the people we met on the road, to the people that supported us from home, we felt your presence and your strength with us in every step of the way. We are held up by our community, and we celebrate that.  We also took our community on the road, set out to share ourselves to strangers and friends alike, 15 people in a bus, 1000+ miles, 200+ hours  later and we are faced with so many realities of triumph and struggle, laughter and pain, confusion and anger, compassion and sympathy.  The range of emotion and encounter become a wider pallette by which we can draw from.  The tour, was simply a small microcosm of what we experience everyday; there are people all around us, and every day is a chance to discover how to “heart”  them. Perhaps there is one thing we did learn, working together in harmony and unity is important to creating a new narrative of our future, and by creating a new reality by which our consciousness can evolve and grow we push the boundaries of what it looks like to heart people beyond the every day encounters we have become so numb to. We have been discovering that we do not have to live lives that are isolated and wasteful, consumptive and afraid, we recognize that we have the power to reach out to those around us, in bravery and honesty to jump out in a step of good faith and trust, knowing that we can travel to greater distances together than we could have alone. And in that knowledge we venture bravely into unknown territory chasing down with relentless passion the infinite possibilities that are before us all.

In the end, we all travel along on our own journeys, and at some moments we find that we travel together, its important that we remember in each unique moment before us, the places we have come from, the places we are going, and the current moment that we have stepped into, by remembering that these are all just collective moments in the history of our existence. Tiny blips on the radar of the human consciousness we find ourselves evolving into and as we each become who we are supposed to become by “giving joy and watching it be” we are learning to love ourselves and all that comes with our expression, unique as it may be each person for themselves.  It is there, in the midst of the bright light that each person shines where we learn to make room in ourselves to let others be who they are without judgment, knowing that the very thing that makes us beautiful is the same shining light that shines within and without. Sometimes its not easy to love ourselves, and sometimes its not easy to love others, but we gotta strive hard for both, so that the moment one happens to out shine the other, maybe we can remember how similar those lights are from all angles. “Heart” yourself and maybe that’s what it means to “Heart” others.

OKaaaaaaY!

So We kicked off the tour the right way! Since this was our first stop of the tour we figured it would be our warm up in terms of getting down the system and working out the kinks that come along with setting up, breaking down and all that good tour stuff!

So we made it to Olympia early Monday morning and walked around downtown playing music on the streets promoting the tour! We played some music in a nearby park and entertained the people that we heart!  We found an awesome spot to park the bus and post up (more on that from Andy in the video) to get the evenings festivities going.

The vibe in Olympia was pretty sweet. Most of us hadn’t been to Olympia before so we didn’t have any expectations of what was to come.  But as always with our hearts open and our table of food abundant we were able to encounter the people in Olympia and spread our love.  Most of the people that came around were local transients living on the streets.  Many of the young kids came by mostly for the food, but I am sure they were surprised by the wonderful music and entertainment we brought along with us!

Tin played a wonderful set, JP did some poetry, and Johanna Rocked out with her band causing a wonderful tour dance party! Once the music ended, we let the party begin and we found that Olympia was hospitable towards us in return! (Thanks to Doc!) Overall we had an amazing night to start the tour and are really excited for our next few stops along the way.

Allright folks!

Just headin out and already we came across a need for some veggie oil.  Barely on the outskirts of Los Angeles and we needed to make sure that we were able to secure some more oil for the road, so we stopped off in Bakersfield and found a spot that was so generous in donating 30 Gallons of veggie oil to our tour! A big thank you to Moo Creamery in Bakersfield for their late night donation of 30 gallons of veggie oil!!!  To all our friends, remember Moo Creamery for fancy burgers, homemade ice cream and random sushi nights next time you go through Bakersfield, CA!”

As we gear up for departure, we are faced with the task of scoring some veggie oil to make our bus run and get us up and down west coast to your city and back to our home in LA! We know this is going to get down and that it is already happening as we speak.  We just wanted to give you all a chance to be a part of making this magical tour bus run!  If you or anyone you know has a veggie oil hook up in your city, please let us know and we can get into contact with them.  If you or anyone you know is feeling adventurous/bored/conveniently generous with their time and wants to help us score some veggie oil to our cause, most school cafeterias, hospitals, restaurants,  and chinese food buffets are the best places to score the liquid of the veggie bus goddesses. Anyhow, we just thought we would throw that one out into the universe and see what comes back our way.  Here’s to you multiple galaxies.

I heart People Tour

It’s only 3 days until we depart for the road and get this tour kickin into high gear! We are so pumped for this tour and so excited to share our hearts with you all through our creative expression and sharing of community.  We want to give you all a little heads up before we hit your town of a little bit of the vision and intentions of the space we want to set-up in order to create with you all upon your arrival, and we can all participate in making something beautiful!

All of us on tour have each had our own experiences of living in community and in sharing our own creative expressions with open hearts, vulnerability and trust.  It has taken time, work and effort to build an open and trusting community amongst ourselves, yet here we stand each in our own solitude with our own strength and gifts ready to continue this journey in new and exciting ways.  We are all paving ahead our own personal paths and journeys, yet along the way we find ourselves amongst fellow travelers, many of whom follow their own passion into the far distance.  And along this path, we share in life together, we break bread, make merry, we dance and sing songs in celebration of life. We work and create with active hands and steady feet.  We cry together in moments of sadness and pain, and in so doing we are opening our own hearts to understanding ourselves and what it means to be alive in this particular time and space.

So in the spirit community and creativity we are coming to you to participate in this celebration of life and the inspiration to a new way and vision of living life together.  When we arrive in your town, look for the veggie Oil bus parked across the street from the designated venue.  It shouldn’t be hard to miss, we will have a mural on the side of the bus that will be worked on throughout the Tour by YOU!  We will also be having a potluck dinner before each show starting at 8pm. We will provide some yummy black beans and brown rice, you bring whatever yummies you would like to enjoy and share with others!  There will also be a live screen printing of the tour shirt so bring a shirt with you if you would like to have one!  This experience is just as much about the creative energy and spirit that you bring with you as we share together in creative community ! It’s a wonderful exchange of energy and community!

We are planning on have a hoot of a time throughout and are excited to meet so many new people and all the wonderful journeys that await us at each city! Share this with your friends and let them know that the mirror of community is shining bright throughout these lands, and we are just putting out our signal along the way! So look out for the Veggie BUS and the I Heart People Tour in your town as we bring our stories, share our food, dance our dances, perform our poetry, and sing our songs.  We hope to see you there!
